Additions and corrections

Adaad's charts are built on this explorer, and it keeps changing. A reader who checks a figure some months after it was published deserves to know whether the layer behind it has since been rebuilt, so every addition, every correction and every change of default is dated here. Corrections to what Adaad itself published are a different record and live in the corrections log.

Changed

The Survey Vintage layer is retired

It told a reader which survey year a district's figure came from, which is a property of the indicator rather than of the district, and it belonged in the notes rather than on the map.

New

The Mouza Census 2020 is on the map

Rural facilities for every tehsil, which is why the map is now District & Tehsil rather than district only. The mouza is the rural revenue unit, and the explainer that says so opens before any mouza statistic is shown.

New

A MICS layer covering 146 of 147 districts

The Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys are designed to be representative district by district, which almost nothing else in the library is. Adaad's health-access piece rests on it.

Correction

The HIES 2024-25 district crosswalk was wrong

The crosswalk had been inferred rather than read, and it misassigned the great majority of households. It is now built from PBS's own coding scheme, and districts.json was rebuilt from the corrected ETL. Any district-level HIES figure taken from Data Darbar before this date should be taken again.

Correction

The Keamari boundary artefact, and a 2017 double-count

Karachi's newest district inherited a boundary it should not have. Fixed on the map and in the warehouse, and the 2017 double-count it exposed is now flagged where it appears rather than quietly carried.

New

A public SQL console

DuckDB compiled to WebAssembly, querying static Parquet in the browser. Nothing is uploaded and there is no server to ask permission from, so the warehouse can be interrogated directly rather than downloaded first.

Changed

Poverty now leads with whole-district PSLM

The headline poverty figure was rural-only HIES, which is a narrower population than the district it was labelled with. PSLM's whole-district FIES leads instead, and the HIES series remains alongside it.

Licensing stated on every page

MIT for the code, CC BY 4.0 for the data. The disputed-territory unit was also dropped from the poverty tehsil layer, because a statistic was being drawn for a polygon with no survey behind it.

Where this comes from

Summarised from the project's own repository history, which is public and is the authoritative record. Anything here that misstates a change is an error worth reporting.
